Compatability Questions
Macromedia Freehand and EPS files
If you use Freehand as your graphics package of choice, you may find that
EPS files exported from Auto-Illustrator don't show up when imported.
Freehand, as far as we know, never displays EPS content - it just previews
it using a crossed rectangle. When printed to a PostScript printer, the
document comes out correctly, however.
The workaround, if you can do it, is to load the exported EPS into another
program, such as Adobe Illustrator (this is known to work as Illustrator
can preview EPS content) and then save it out as an Illustrator
document. The latest Freehand can read Illustrator documents without any
problem, so then you will get your document in all it's editable glory.
There may be other workarounds possible, which don't require Adobe
Illustrator - try creating a virtual printer that creates EPS or PDF files
on your desktop. Print your document from Auto-Illustrator using the
virtual printer and see if that imports into Freehand. There are no
guarantees as I'm afraid this is an issue with Freehand and not
Auto-Illustrator's EPS export routines.
